Antique Car Show Is A Tune Up For Patient

Bill Farmer loves vintage automobiles. Seeing the polished chrome detailing, hearing the souped-up engines roar and feeling the restored upholstery of the classic machines brings a twinkle to his eye. Crossroads staff members note that the hospice patient is rarely seen without an antique automotive magazine in hand. For Farmer’s perfect day, they wanted to bring the real thing to his doorstep.

Crossroads arranged for a dozen antique cars to visit the parking lot of Farmer’s residence, the Canton Nursing Center, where fellow patients and their families joined him in appreciating the restored vehicles up close. Farmer spent the morning among renovated pickups, sedans and roadsters, hearing firsthand from the owners how they had been returned to their former glory and beyond. Since then, Farmer’s eyes are a little brighter and his grin is a little wider. Crossroads staff knows that this Gift was the driving force.
