Piano Concert Sounds Like The Perfect Day

undefinedAs a former student of Philadelphia’s Academy of Music, Rita Peed spent years mastering the piano. Now a Crossroads Hospice patient in Springfield, PA her love for the instrument hasn’t diminished. Unfortunately, the piano she owns fell out of tune and went unused. When Peed had the chance to plan her “Gift of a Day,” she decided to change that.

A piano tuner paid Peed a visit and returned her beloved instrument to tip-top shape. Sarah Batchelor, the Music Director of Covenant United Methodist Church, volunteered to welcome the piano back to life with a private concert for Peed, who was joined by her granddaughter, niece and nephew. Batchelor played traditional hymns and pieces by Peed’s favorite composer, Chopin. Peed followed that with a performance of her own, playing a few songs for her family, friends and Crossroads staff members. Hearing her piano sound the way she remembered was music to her ears.
