Crossroads Brings Thrills of New Orleans Mardi Gras

undefinedBorn and raised in New Orleans, Marifrances McCartney has always had a love for the city’s unique traditions and cultures, from the sounds of the jazz clubs on Bourbon Street to the smell of fresh beignets in the French Market. The 92-year-old has vivid memories of Mardi Gras, a time when her beloved hometown gathers together to celebrate its identity.

Now a Crossroads Hospice patient in Cumming, GA, McCartney was the guest of honor at a Mardi Gras party designed to help her relive some of her best memories on her “Gift of a Day.” Hosted at the Oaks Senior Living facility, the event featured the Ruby Reds Jazz Band, festive beads and balloons, and a feast of seafood gumbo. Although she couldn’t return to the Crescent City this year, McCartney and the Crossroads staff let the good times roll. Or, as they say in Creole, “laissez les bons temps rouler.”
