Gift of a Day: Hospice Patient's Final Ride

hospice patient final ride

Carol Bocklett was a stripper - but it's not what you're thinking.

She was a black and white print stripper for the Lifetouch Yearbook Company for over 22 years. She arranged the negatives to create printing plates for the books, preserving those school day memories for generations of students.

For her Gift of a Day, we wanted to give her the memory of a lifetime.

One Final Ride

When not working, her passion has been riding motorcycles. She wanted one final ride.
Unfortunately, Carol is no long able to sit on a motorcycle on her own, that's where Worth Harley Davidson stepped in.

Carol's Final Ride

Owner Rick Worth and Kathy from Worth Harley provided a bike with a side-car to make the ride possible.

Rick and other bikers joined Carol and her friends for her final ride, including a stop for lunch at Worth Harley, graciously provided by them at their location.

From there, more bikers joined the ride as we made the trek to KC Ink for the final part of Carol's perfect day. Artist Noah Holtman provided Carol with a tattoo of her grandson's name.

Fox 4 Kansas City came along for Carol's final ride and shared video of the highlights with their viewers.

It was an amazing day of memories for a woman who helped preserve the memories of so many others.

Gift of a Day

The Gift of a Day program is designed to give each patient their perfect day. Based on the novel The Ultimate Gift by James Stovall, each day is as unique as each individual patient.

Many thanks to Worth Harley Davidson and KC Ink for making Carol's perfect day possible.
