Happy 105th Birthday

105th birthday for hospice patient

Crossroads Hospice & Palliative Care joined in the celebration of Willie Mae Franklin's 105th Birthday today in St. Louis, MO.  Her family came together with Crossroads staff and the Royal Oaks Nursing Facility staff members to sing a lively rendition of "Happy Birthday!"

When asked, "Ms. Franklin what is the secret to your longevity?" She answered, "I want cake!"

So, it was on to the cake!

Our Crossroads team provided the cake, Chaplain Greg provided the juggling entertainment, and there was laughter and good times for all in attendance.

Ms. Franklin's son described his mother as "just a sweet Southern girl from Senatobia, MO."  She has three children; many grandchildren and many great grandchildren.

When Chaplain Sara asked her at the close of the party if she had any final thoughts, she replied, "I just want to thank everybody for being so nice to me and so kind.

She ended our time together with a song: "The Lord's Prayer."

As we were leaving Royal Oaks staff member Darlene told us, "You all did not have to do this, but I just want to thank you because it is coming from your heart.  Everything that you all do, you do it with style and grace and I just want to thank you. You all should be called "Crossroads Style and Grace!"

We love it! Many thanks to everyone at Royal Oaks who helped to celebrate Ms. Franklin's day!
