Dealing With a Dying Parent: Mother’s Day Gift of a Day
It's a bittersweet Mother's Day for the Kennedy family in Kansas City, MO. Their mother Wilma is currently a patient with Crossroads Hospice & Palliative Care.
Dealing with a dying parent can be an emotional time, but this family is using their time together to celebrate all that their mother has done for them.
Wilma is a mother of three - two sons and daughter. While her husband was out working as a truck driver, Wilma stayed home to care for the children.
She was the quintessential stay-at-home mom, making clothing for her growing children, driving her boys to baseball practice and her daughter to cheerleading.
Wilma was celebrated as Queen for a Day at her Mother’s Day Gift of a Day as part of Crossroads Hospice ultimate gift program, but she's clearly the Queen of the Kennedy family's heart everyday.
Happy Mother's Day, Wilma!
Gift of a Day
The Gift of a Day program is based on the book The Ultimate Gift by Jim Stovall. Patients and their families are asked: “If you had one perfect day, what would it look like?” Our team then works with the family, volunteers, and local businesses to make that day possible.
