Gift of a Day: Veteran Gives Back

Veteran Recognition

undefined

Carl Erickson is a Veteran of WWII where he served in the Navy. He then went on to serve in Korea in the Marines. Justifiably proud of his service, Carl has been a strong advocate for his fellow Veterans, participating in many events and parades to honor our military.

Carl volunteered at the Henry County Museum for many years, putting together their military room and organizing the donation of items to the museum.

For his Gift of a Day, Carl wanted to go back to the Henry County museum and donate one of his military photos. While there, we honored him with a Veteran Recognition ceremony where a member of each branch of the military presented him with a military service coin. He was also presented with a flag and certificate which had flown in an A-10 from Whiteman Airforce Base.

Gift of a Day

The Gift of a Day program is based on the book The Ultimate Gift by Jim Stovall. Patients and their families are asked: “If you had one perfect day, what would it look like?” Our team then works with the family, volunteers, and local businesses to make that day possible.
