Hospice Patient Sings Along to Alan Jackson's "Remember When"

Alan Jackson Gift of a Day

Crossroads Hospice and Palliative Care patient Steve Owens is a huge country music fan and especially loves Alan Jackson. For his Gift of a Day, we arranged for Steve and his daughters to attend Alan Jackson's Honky Tonk Highway Tour's stop at the Silverstein Eye Centers Arena in Independence, MO.

The evening started out with dinner and a few surprises that Alan sent for Steve including a t-shirt, a hat, a DVD, and an autographed photo. Then it was off to the concert where Steve was escorted right up to the stage for a night he and his daughters will cherish.

He even caught a t-shirt that Alan threw to him!

When asked what was his favorite Alan Jackson song was, Steve said, “All of them, there's not a bad one in the bunch. He’s one of the greatest of all time.”

But it was clear that the song "Remember When" held a special place in his heart, and he joined his daughter in singing, "Remember when I was young and so were you, And time stood still and love was all we knew."

Steve told us it was the night of his life. Watch him singalong with his daughters:

Gift of a Day

The Gift of a Day program gives each of our hospice patients the opportunity to have one perfect day doing the things they love with their family. Based on the book The Ultimate Gift by Jim Stovall, the Gift of a Day gives patients a chance to forget about their illness and just have fun. We thank Alan Jackson and everyone at the Silverstein Eye Centers Arena for making Steve's Gift of a Day so special.
