Meet Hospice Aide Tanesha Fields

Tanesha Fields Hosipce Aide

Throughout CNA Week, we'll be introducing you to just a few of the many dedicated and compassionate hospice aides who care for our patients. CNAs are also called HHAs, STNAs and hospice aides. Today, meet Tanesha Fields from our St. Louis office.

What made you decide to become a hospice aide?

When I was younger, I always liked helping out my grandmother and great grandfather and elderly people when they got sick. I’d never done hospice before, and it’s really rewarding and I love it.

What do you wish more people knew about hospice?

A lot of people think hospice is care just for their loved one, but it’s actually emotional support. It helps things go smoother at end of life so families won’t have to do a lot when the patients transitions. It’s just that support that everyone needs, and it’s a really good thing.

Has there been a patient that made a particular impact on you?

When we meet for grief support, I talk about this patient all the time. This patient touched me to the point that I cried like it was one of my family members. So sweet and welcoming and made me feel like part of her family. In her predicament, she was able to still give love and affection.

What do like about working for Crossroads?

We’re really a tight-knit facility. When you come here, everyone is smiling and welcoming. It feels like family. Home away from home.
