Spotlight on Provider Relations
Larry Hendrickson Educates Patients and Families on End-of-Life Care
A provider relations representative tells “the story from start to finish” of the end-of-life care journey while “educating (patients and families) on how every discipline has a special role in hospice, ensuring that families understand the true role of hospice.”
That’s how NEO Provider Relations Representative Larry Hendrickson describes the Provider Relations position. “Resolving and mediating problems” is another key aspect of the role, often requiring “calm amongst chaos.”
Larry is known for his calm demeanor. Recruited by Crossroads from a home health care company 13 years ago, he has found his place in a company whose “heart is in the right place.”
Early on he heard our founder Perry Farmer speak about “doing the right things for the right reasons.” This aligns with Larry’s values. Larry also appreciates being a member of an integrated team that always does its best for patients and families.
While he was happy in his previous position in home healthcare where he had the opportunity to develop a Tier 1 Cardiac Rehabilitation program as well as a rehab program for patients undergoing Cardiac Thoracic surgery, it wasn’t team-oriented like at Crossroads.
His First Chapter was in Hospitality
Larry studied hospitality management in college and was the youngest Food and Beverage Manager in the history of the prestigious Philadelphia Country Club, quickly climbing the ladder from Banquet Server to Beverage Manager to Food and Beverage Manager.
As you can imagine, his customer service and management skills are impeccable and according to Larry, every position he has enjoyed involves many of the same guidelines for success.
Stark County, Ohio is Larry’s territory where he pursues leads and develops and maintains professional referral relationships and meets one-on-one with families. He admits he knows quite a lot of people, one of his favorite aspects of the job.
“There’s no such thing as a typical day,” at Crossroads, according to Larry. But that might also describe his home life where he is father to four busy boys, ages 3, 9, 11 and 14. Football, travel baseball, wrestling and soccer keep him very busy as a volunteer coach and Dad taxi. Larry is appreciated by NEO’s site leaders who will tell you they are very happy he is with Crossroads.
