Iconic Diamond Grille is Perfect Setting for 63rd Anniversary Dinner

You can pay with cash or check or leave your name and address and you’ll be mailed a bill. They don’t take credit or debit cards. Not much has changed at Akron’s iconic Diamond Grille, where “the sports world’s glitterati” have had dinner, since it opened in 1935.

The Diamond Grille has also been a favorite destination of Anne and Joe Maite throughout their 63 years of marriage. That’s why Anne and Joe’s Gift of a Day anniversary dinner took place there. Anne and Joe celebrated at the Diamond Grille once again with one of their three daughters and a son-in-law. They also have one son.

The anniversary cake was a focal point of the celebration. The Diamond Grille is known for its signature way of presenting a cake and candle to celebrants. Anne wanted an Italian Wedding cake for the presentation and to enjoy after dinner.

Just by chance, Anne’s Crossroads Care team secured a cake from the very same bakery that had supplied the Maite’s wedding cake 63 years ago. That was the first year the bakery was in business. Anne and Joe’s anniversary dinner at the Diamond Grille was a perfect evening filled with favorite foods, love and toasts to past traditions.
