In 2012, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) began reducing Medicare payments for hospitals deemed to have excess readmissions for patients within 30 days. While readmission rates have dropped in the past five years, over 2500 hospitals still faced these penalties.

For many young people, especially those who may be considering a career in the healthcare professions, that sentiment probably has a familiar ring to it.
Coping with the loss of a loved one can lead a person through a spectrum of confusing emotions. These emotions can range from shock to anger to depression to guilt and beyond. While everyone grieves differently and experiences unique emotions, it is quite common to encounter at least some of these. When the person who has passed happened to be particularly close to the person in grief, feelings of loneliness and isolation can be among the most common.

Even when a person is expecting it, a terminal diagnosis is a shocking thing to hear. It can take time to process – for the patient and their family and friends. Sadness and anger is a normal reaction. It’s also normal to want to make the most of all the time you have left.
